By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The COVID-19 Centre, located in the Kwara state government-owned Sobi Specialist Hospital, Alagbado, Ilorin has been gutted by fire.

Africa 247 gathered that the fire was caused by an unidentified person said to have set an undergrowth around the facility on fire.

It was also learnt that the fire later spread to the COVID-19 Centre ward.

The incident, which was confirmed by the state Fire Service, recorded no loss of lives nor injuries.

The Kwara state Fire service, Head of Department (HOD) Media and Publicity , Hassan Adekunle, said the swift response by the Service prevented major damage at the COVID-19 Centre.

In his remarks the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, advised residents of the state to prioritize safety.

He also urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities, adding that they should desist from sending under-aged children to fetch water in domestic well.
