MAN DOCKED FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING PALM SLIPPERS                                                                                 09-02-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      A sharia court sitting in Fagge Kano, has docked a 21 year-old man, Ahmad Shehu for allegedly stealing four pair of unisex palm slippers valued N110, 000.

The defendant, who lives in Fagge Quarters, Kano, is charged with theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Sani Haladu who also resides in Fagge Quarters, reported the matter at Fagge Police Station, Kano, on Feb. 6.

Wada stated that Shehu broke into Haladu’s shop at about 7.30p.m on Feb.6 and stole away his four pair of unisex palm slippers valued at N110,000.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 212, 133 and 198 of the Penal Code.

When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty to the offences.

The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety who should be a blood relation.

Lawal-Abubakar adjourned the matter until Feb. 29 for summary trial.
