By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has urged members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria RTEAN to avoid being used as accomplices by illegal miners across the country.

The EFCC Chairman made the call at a meeting with the executive members of the two transport unions at the Ilorin Zonal Command of the commission.

Represented by the Ilorin Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Mchael Nzekwe ,the Chairman noted that the meeting was meant to sensitise members of the unions against being used by illegal miners.

Olukoyede advised the transport Union leaders to warn their members against using their trucks for illegal activities.

The EFCC’s boss urged members of the transport unions to always demand for the mining license of any miner seeking their services to avoid being involved in illegitimate mining.

In his remarks , the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport workers,NURTW, Kwara state Chapter, Alhaji Abdulrasaki Ariwoola, commended the EFCC for sensitising their members , adding that the Unions would support the Commission’s efforts in checking the activities of illegal miners in the state.
