By Sadiq Aminu                                                         Few hours to the commemoration to the 2024 World Tuberculosis Day, the Federal Ministry of Health intensified sensitisation and awareness creation on the causes and prevention of the disease.

At the Area 11 central mosque in Abuja, the Principal Scientific Officer of the National Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Programme, Mr. Ishaq Abubakar maintained that early detection was key to preventing the disease as treatment is free.

Mr. Abubakar further said the federal ministry of health has introduced over 500 Gene Xpert sites for free tuberculosis tests and encouraged all Moslem faithful to ensure that they get tested for TB when they suspect symptoms of the disease.

Prayers were offered for Moslem faithfuls and others who lost their lives to the deadly disease.
