FCCPC SUMMONS THE OWNER OF A CHINESE SUPERMARKET FOR ALLEGED DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES                                                                                             23-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                             The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has summoned the owner of a Chinese Supermarket for alleged discriminatory practices.

During a fact finding and investigation enforcement to the Supermarket located along Airport Road, Abuja, the Director, Surveillance and Investigation in the commission Mrs Boladale Adeyinka said the move was in reaction to a viral video over the weekend where a Nigerian lady was denied access to the shop.

Mrs Boladale Adeyinka, gave the owner of the supermarket up till Wednesday this week to come to the Commission for necessary investigation into the matter as a CCTV footage revealed that the owner of the supermarket left the premises before the arrival of the commission.

Mrs Adeyinka, warned foreigners operating businesses in Nigeria against discriminating against Nigerians.

She affirmed the commitment of Commission towards protecting consumers, and advised traders and producers against contravening its regulations to avoid sanctions.
