By Sadiq Aminu                                                            The Federal Government says 48 million Nigerians Still Practice Open Defecation despite setting 2025 target to end open Defecation in Nigeria.

The Minister of State for Environment stated this in Abuja at a public hearing by the House of Representatives on the need to end Open Defecation, flooding menace in Nigeria.
The Minister emphasized that the menace of Open Defecation in Nigeria is creating great risk to the health of the citizens.
Mr. Ishaq Saleko said to end open Defecation there is the need for construction of massive public toilets public facilities across the country.
The Minister expressed concern that Nigeria as a country is still lagging behind in ending open Defecation.

Mr. Saleko said as part of efforts to end open Defecation the ministry had embarked on series of initiative such as Community Based Intervention on the control of open defecation, regular sensitization and sanitary inspection of toilets in Federal Government owned institutions among others.
The Minister called on Nigerian citizens and other relevant stakeholders to support the efforts aimed at ending open Defecation in Nigeria.
