DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT SAYS IT IS ASSISTING SECURITY AGENCIES TO IDENTIFY KILLERS OF SOLDIERS                                                                         19-03-24

Delta State Government says it is assisting security agencies to identify the real killers of the soldiers on peace mission in the State.

The Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, stated this while briefing State House correspondents on his meeting with President Tinubu in Abuja.

The Governor said he told the President the truth about the incident in which the soldiers got slained, and assured him of the government’s efforts at finding and bringing the killers to justice.

Mr. Oborevwori also said he had secured assurances from security authorities that revenge would not be meted on innocent villagers around the spot the soldiers were killed.

President Tinubu had, in the wake of the incident, granted the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff full authority to bring to justice those found to have killed the soldiers.

He stressed that the killing of the soldiers was unprovoked as they were responding to a crisis between Okuama and Okoloba communities in the state when they were ambushed.

The slain personnel were a Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain and twelve soldiers, including one civilian.
