KANO STATE PRIVATE HEALTH INSTITUTIONS MANAGEMENT AGENCY SHUTS DOWN PRIVATE CLINIC                                                                                                                       20-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) has sealed off Sassauka Clinic and Diagnosis Centre, Rimin Kebe.

PHIMA Director Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim maintained that the clinic was shut down due to certain violations.

He explained that the name of the clinic registered with PHIMA differs from the name it’s currently using, saying that the clinic was registered as Sassauka Clinic and Diagnosis but uses Sassauka Hospital without proper documentation.

The DG stressed, that the clinic also increased services from the initial six-bed clinic to a forty-bed capacity without notifying PHIMA.

Professor Salisu pointed out that the law stipulates that three medical doctors must be provided to a forty-bed capacity clinic, but in the case of Sassauka clinic, it still manages one doctor who is always absent.

He lamented that even the supporting staff that assist in running the clinic are inadequate as per the standard of operations is concerned.

“It was based on the above-listed offences and other issues, according to the DG, the clinic was clampdown and the owner was invited to the PHIMA in the following week to look at what law of the agency stipulates to be guided aright to continue the operation upon fulfilling all the requirements”

The DG reiterated the unwavering commitment of PHIMA in sanitizing activities of private health institutions across the state, urging them to cooperate with the agency to achieve its mandate of providing excellent health service delivery to the people.

He commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the optimal attention he accorded to the healthcare system of the state by putting in the needed resources to meet global standards.
