ORGANISED LABOUR IN NASARAWA COMMENCES MOBILISATION OF WORKERS ACROSS THE STATE TO JOIN IN THE NATIONWIDE STRIKE                                                                                                                  04-06-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The organised labour in Nasarawa State has commenced mobilisation of workers across the state to join in the nationwide strike beginning tomorrow following the breakdown of negotiation between the federal government and the body on a new National Minimum Wage.

State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress,TUC Comrade Mohammed Doma stated this in a telephone interview in Lafia.

He confirmed that state chapters of the Trade Union Congress TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC had been formally notified by the national leadership of the organised labour to proceed on an indefinite strike tomorrow following the inability of the federal government to reach an agreement with the organised labour on a new National Minimum Wage.

Comrade Mohammed Doma explained that since Friday last week, officials of the various affiliates of both the TUC and the N LC had been engaging their members across the three senatorial zones of the state on the directive of the national leadership of organized labour.

He maintained that civil servants in the state had shown high commitment towards ensuring that all public offices remain shut down in total compliance with the directive until a new National Minimum Wage is announced.

The TUC Chairman called on workers in the state to stay away from their duty posts, be law-abiding and remain steadfast in the struggle for better living conditions.
