PRESIDENT TINUBU ASSURES NIGERIANS OF HARVESTING THE FRUIT OF THE SACRIFICE THEY ARE MAKING TO REVAMP THE ECONOMY 25-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that they will soon harvest the fruit of the sacrifice they are making to revamp the economy.
During a meeting in Abuja with prominent Ulama, the President, again, sought for more time to allow him prove his worth.
Interacting with State House correspondents after the meeting, Shaikh AbdurRahman Ahmad, said the President sought for understanding and encouragement to enable him honour his campaign promises.
“The President has told us the efforts his government has been making to ensure that the economy of this country is place on a very sound footing.
“He acknowledged the fact that things could be a bit tough now, which he likened to weaning a child on exclusive breastfeeding formula. It’s tough – he identified with Nigerians and their suffering, and he assured that it is for good”, the Shaikh explained.
Shaikh Ahmad said the President told them that in the interim, the government would role out more interventions to ameliorate the hardship.
The Muslim scholar said the President implored Nigerians not to allow fifth columnists to mess up the peace of the country, citing Sudan, Kenya, Libya, and other peaceful countries that had fallen into the trap of sadists.
The Shaikh said President Tinubu urged Nigerians to resist the temptation of being incited to destroy the country.
Another member of the delegation, Shaikh Bala Lau said they conveyed to the President the ill-feelings of the people against the hardship being felt.
He said being the delegation that advised the President and Chairman of ECOWAS not to go to war with Niger, it had become incumbent on them to strive to prevent internal insurrection.
“This protest that is being drummed up could metamorphose into anarchy. Lives, property, and public assets, will be destroyed in the chaos that will set in”, Sheikh Bala Lau pointed out.
Prior to this meeting, the President had met separately with Governors of the APC and traditional rulers to try get a message across to the youth that the path the government is treading to make life better will be thorny, but fruitful at the end.
