By Sadiq Aminu                                                             The Zamfara State House of Assembly has summoned all security chiefs in the state to address the alarming rise in insecurity, including increased incidents of banditry and kidnappings.

The meeting, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, was convened to discuss the deteriorating security situation and to urge for enhanced efforts from security agencies.

During the session, Speaker Moriki expressed deep concern over reports from various constituencies, highlighting the growing challenges faced by citizens in maintaining their safety. He acknowledged the efforts made by Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration but emphasized the need for additional measures to combat the ongoing threats.

“We are seriously worried about the security challenges despite the ongoing efforts by the state government. We request more proactive actions from the security agencies to restore peace and stability in Zamfara,” said Speaker Moriki.

In response, the security chiefs, including the State Commissioner of Police, Director of State Security Service (SSS), Commander 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Gusau, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), assured the Assembly of their continued commitment to tackling the security issues.

They also expressed gratitude to the Assembly for its support and collaboration.
