By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Teachers in Public Primary Schools in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT today (Wednesday) resumed their suspended strike over alleged unmet demands.

The decision to resume the strike was arrived at, after a meeting of the State Wing Executive Council in Abuja.

A communique signed by the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT in the FCT, Comrade Abdullahi Shafa and the Secretary, Comrade Margaret Jethro decries the non response of Area Council Chairmen to the 14 day ultimatum issued to them.

According to the communique, the ultimatum sought to ensure payment of 60% of the 25 months minimum wage arrears, implementation of the 25% and 35% salary increase, payment of 40% peculiar allowance and arrears of wage award.

They however commended the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike for the payment of 40% of the total sum of 25 months minimum wage arrears which the Area Council Chairmen failed to pay the 60% balance, according to the communique.
