NIDCOM PARTNERS CUBA ON CULTURAL EXCHANGES                                                                                                                              18-11-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                     The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) is partnering with the Cuban Embassy in Nigeria to strengthen cultural ties and foster greater unity among Africans and those of African descent worldwide.

This development was highlighted during a strategic meeting in Abuja between NiDCOM Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero.

Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that the ongoing Decade for People of African Descent presents a vital opportunity for Africans globally to promote the continent’s unity, resilience, and progress.

According to the NiDCOM Chairman, the Commission is eager to work closely with the Cuban government to enhance diaspora engagement and drive impactful cultural exchanges.

She expressed optimism that such partnerships will contribute significantly to building stronger African cultural identities and promote greater collaboration between both nations.

Cuban Ambassador Palmero echoed the importance of cultural exchanges in solidifying shared historical identities and invited Dabiri-Erewa to attend an upcoming event celebrating The Decade for the People of African Descent in Cuba this December.

She noted the celebration’s similarities to Nigeria’s Badagry Door of Return Festival and commended NiDCOM’s leadership for its dedication to diaspora engagement.
