JUSTICE MOJISOLA SENTENCES A COUPLE, HARRY UYANWANNE AND OLUWAKEMI ODEMUYIWA TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR STEALING N52M                                                                                                                         04-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                     Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos High Court in Ikeja has sentenced a couple, Harry Uyanwanne and Oluwakemi Odemuyiwa (also known as Kristein Uyanwanne), along with Temple International Church, to 10 years in prison for stealing 52 million naira.

The church was ordered to be deregistered and closed for defrauding people in the name of God.

The defendants were found guilty on seven counts brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after their trial began on February 25, 2020.

Uyanwanne received a sentence of 10 years, while Odemuyiwa was sentenced to six years, with both sentences running concurrently.

They were also ordered to pay restitution of 31 million naira to the complainant within 60 days of the judgment.

The prosecution alleged that in March 2016, the couple dishonestly converted 10 million naira belonging to the late Mrs. Odemuyiwa Janet Adeola, and also sold a property to Mr. Kingsley Atere for 42 million naira, falsely claiming Uyanwanne had the authority to do so.

Their offenses are contrary to the Advance Fee Fraud Act of 2006 and the Criminal Law of Lagos State of 2011.
