NURSING MOTHERS ADVISED TO ENSURE EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING OF THEIR CHILD FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS AFTER DELIVERY 02-01-25
By Sadiq Aminu Nursing mothers have been advised to ensure they embark on exclusive breastfeeding of their child for at least six months after delivery.
The Wife of the Anambra state Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo gave the advice shory after visiting 2025 New Year babies at some hospitals in the state.
According to her, the importance of breast milk to the development of a newborn can never be overemphasized hence the need to sustain the campaign.
Mrs Soludo while congratulating the 2025 New Year babies for arriving safely into the world , encouraged their mothers not to depend on canned and cow foods when they have the natural milk that contains all the needed nutrients to build the child’s system.
Mrs Soludo who is championing Healthy Living Initiative for all, remarked that exclusive breastfeeding would not only make the baby healthy and strong, but also help reduce unnecessary spending on health related issues,
She used the medium to re echo her husband’s commitment towards improving the condition of healthcare services and infrastructures in the state of which pregnant women were already enjoying.
The first baby of the year, a boy weighing 2.4 kilogrammes was born through normal delivery to Mrs Elizabeth Nwachukwu, from Enugu state, at 12:18 a.m. at General Hospital Nnobi.
She also visited General Hospital Ekwulobia in Aguata LGA, where Mrs Chinaza Mmuoghalum, from Ekwulobia, delivered a baby girl weighing 4 kg through normal delivery at 7:16 a.m New Year Day.
The nursing mothers after receiving hamper gift items and cash from the wife of the Governor, thanked her for sharing in their joy on such occasion and also commended the present administration for approving free Healthcare and Delivery for pregnant women.
They noted that the policy no doubt has encouraged more women especially those in the rural areas to patronize government health facilities where experienced workers dwell.
