PRESIDENT TINUBU SIGNS INTO LAW THE BILL ESTABLISHING THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY, TAI, OGONILAND                                                                                             03-02-25

                   By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the bill establishing the Federal University of Environmental Technology, Tai, Ogoniland.

At the event, the President said the signing the Bill into would mark a significant milestone in the national journey towards environment justice, education, and sustainable development.

He noted that Ogoni had suffered decades of environmental degradation, and re-affirmed his administration’s commitment to the people of Ogoni, the Niger Delta and the entire nation.

“For decades, the Ogoni people have been at the forefront of fight for environmental restoration and sustainable development, shaping both national and global conversation of these critical issues.

“By signing this bill into law, we are taking a decisive step towards addressing historical grievances and creating new opportunities for learning, growth and prosperity”, he said.

The President said the university would serve as a center of excellence, equipping young Nigerians with the knowledge and skills to tackle present environmental challenges, drive clean energy solutions, and contribute to national sustainable economic development.

He commended the Ogoni delegation, saying that their stedfast advocacy for justice and building the confidence of the people in a peaceful manner is encouraging and rewarding.

President Tinubu urged stakeholders, the traditional institution, the academic community, private sector, and partners and the youth to embrace the University as a beckon of knowledge, Unity and progress.
