KWARANS MOURN FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI……

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Residents of Kwara State have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 in a London hospital.

Political leaders and stakeholders in the state described him as a key figure in Nigeria’s political history. Professor Hassan Salihu, President of the Nigeria Political Science Association, said Buhari symbolized hope in 2015 when he defeated an incumbent, reflecting the trust Nigerians had in his leadership.

Dr. Ghali Alaya, Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kwara, described him as a principled leader whose death leaves a major vacuum in the nation’s political space.

Professor Wale Sulaiman, Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, called Buhari a national knight who stood firmly for security, anti-corruption, and economic reforms, earning both praise and criticism.

They all prayed for Allah’s forgiveness upon him and comfort for the family and nation he left behind.

Buhari served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and as a civilian President from 2015 to 2023.
