ADC ORDERS MEMBERS TO QUITE OTHER POLITICAL PARTIES
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has directed all its members to resign from other political parties as part of efforts to strengthen its base ahead of future elections.
The decision was announced after a caucus meeting of the party in Abuja on Thursday. However, no specific timeline was given for compliance.
ADC spokesperson, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said all presidential aspirants within the party have agreed to support whoever emerges as the flag bearer after the primaries.
He further disclosed that the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), earlier considered as an alternative political platform for 2027, has been rested.
“The coalition has rested everything concerning the ADA. That means they are not interested in its registration or otherwise,” Abdullahi stated.
The party also revealed that its National Working Committee (NWC) will soon announce dates for primaries in Osun and Ekiti states ahead of the off-cycle governorship elections.
Those present at the caucus meeting included ADC National Chairman David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, former Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai, former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal, and former Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi.
Labour Party leader Peter Obi was absent but reportedly sent apologies and pledged his commitment.
