FUT MINNA SEEKS NEW WAYS TO BOOST REVENUE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) is taking steps to reduce its dependence on government funding by exploring new revenue sources.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta disclosed this during the fourth Annual Lecture of the Bursary Department, themed “Exploring Revenue Diversification for Financial Sustainability of Nigerian Universities: Problems and Prospects.”

He said the university is upgrading its guest house, improving its research farm, and launching other projects to strengthen its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). Prof. Kuta assured that there are no plans to increase tuition fees, noting they do not directly enhance IGR.

Guest Speaker Dr. Haruna Nma Yahaya, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), stressed the need for transparency, proper auditing, and annual publication of accounts to ensure financial stability.

Bursar Dr. Hadiza Goje praised the Vice Chancellor and management for their consistent support, calling for continued teamwork to achieve greater success.
