ZAMFARA APC ACCUSES GOV LAWAL, ASSEMBLY OF ILLEGAL ACTIONS

The Zamfara State APC says Governor Dauda Lawal and the State House of Assembly are repeatedly violating constitutional procedures, especially in the handling of the 2025 budget.
In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party criticized the governor for presenting an ₦861bn budget to a sitting they claim had fewer than the required two-thirds of lawmakers. The APC says this mirrors last year’s “unconstitutional” budget process.
The party also condemned the closed-door presentation, the barring of journalists, and the use of a secretariat hall instead of the Assembly complex, calling it an act of “dictatorship.” It further faulted the absence of official symbols like the coat of arms and the president’s portrait at the venue.
According to the APC, some lawmakers were suspended ahead of the session to prevent opposition to the proposal, leaving only 10 members in attendance.
The party is urging the Federal Government to suspend Zamfara’s federal allocation until due process is restored.
