MUHAMMAD LAWAL INAUGURATED AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, FINANCE & CORPORATE SERVICES AT NRS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) has inaugurated Muhammad A. Lawal as its new Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services, strengthening the Service’s leadership with a seasoned career tax administrator.

Lawal brings decades of experience across state and federal tax institutions, having served in several strategic leadership roles within Nigeria’s tax administration system. Before his appointment, he was the Coordinating Director of Support Services at NRS, where he oversaw key administrative and institutional functions critical to the Service’s operations. He also previously served as Secretary of the Joint Tax Board and Coordinating Secretary of the Tax Appeal Tribunal, as well as Executive Chairman of the Niger State Board of Internal Revenue.

An alumnus of the University of Jos and the University of Calabar, Lawal holds degrees in Management Studies and Business Administration, and is a fellow of leading professional bodies in accounting and taxation. His professional background positions him to drive efficiency, accountability and strong governance within the Finance and Corporate Services Directorate.

The directorate plays a central role in supporting NRS revenue mandate by managing financial resources, corporate administration and operational systems that ensure discipline, transparency and institutional effectiveness across the Service.
