NIGER INAUGURATES 200 CNG BUSSES AND 50 OPERATIONAL VEHICLES FOR SECURITY OPERATIVES 29-05-24
By Sadiq Aminu As part of his one year anniversary Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has inaugurated Two Hundred Compressed Natural Gas busses and 50 operational vehicles for security Operatives in the State.
Others are 50 calibrated trucks for Refuse disposal and about fiffty transformers.
Inline with Governor Bago’s plan, some of the vehicles will carry students free of charge while Government workers will pay subsidized fares.
At the ceremony in Minna, the Governor stated that the busses would be shared across the Twenty Five Local Government Areas of the State to ease the transportation challenges of Residents occasioned by fuel subsidy removal.
The inauguration of the vehicles was part of series of activities lined up to showcase the Governor’s efforts at meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people in the past one Year.
Another activity for the celebration is the Anniversary Lecture where Governor Umaru Bago’s stay in office was analyzed.
One of the resource persons, a Former Minister of Commerce, Alhaji Mustapha Bello who used United Nations indices to appraise the Governor’s performance, said to achieve sustainable progress, development policies must be carried out without compromising the ability of the future generation to meet their needs.
The Former Minister of Commerce while speaking on monies Borrowed for public projects, stressed the need for the State to diversify it’s revenue source to avoid over dependence on federal allocation.
Alhaji Mustapha Bello appreciated the Governor for banning street trading along Madalla-Abuja road a situation he noted has saved alot of economic time for commuters and other road users.
Another speaker, a Former Vice Chancellor, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai, Professor Nasiru Maiturare who spoke on the topic ‘Review of Progress and Potential for a new Niger’ said Governor Bago’s Infrastructural policies are second to none since the creation of the State in 1976.
In a remark, Governor Umaru Bago said his achievements for the past one year was a teamwork among all Government Agencies and called on Residents to track government’s expenditure in the interest of transparency and development.
Speakers at the event, unanimously agreed that to achieve succession in planning policies, Niger and other Subnationals must have clear definition of vision and mission, Monitoring and Evaluation with inclusive governance.
