WHD: NEMA CALLS ON GOVERNMENT, CORPORATE BODIES AND ALL TO CONDEMN ATTACKS ON HUMANITARIAN WORKERS                                                                             19-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               As Nigeria joins the global community to mark the World Humanitarian Day, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has called on the Government, Corporate organizations and all concerned citizens to add their voices to condemn attacks on humanitarian workers, civilians and infrastructure.

It also advocates bringing to an end violations and impunity with which these attacks are committed against humanitarian Aid workers in the country.

The Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar in statement says it is pertinent for everyone to join the campaign for #ActForHumanity which is the theme of the day, by getting involved through respect for International Humanitarian Laws which aim to protect humanitarian workers and their assets across the world.

The statement pays tribute to those who paid the supreme price and others that suffered various traumatic experiences from Non-State Armed Groups, while on life saving duties.

It commends staff and all humanitarian workers across Nigeria who have continued to risk their lives in providing lifesaving assistance to those affected by disasters.
