SAYS THAT ALL PERMANENT VOTERS CARDS HAVE BEEN PRINTED AND DELIVERED TO INEC OFFICE IN BENIN CITY 20-08-24
By Sadiq Aminu INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu who stated this in Abuja during a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners explained that the cards would be available for collection later next week in all the 192 Wards in the State where the last CVR took place from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily including the weekend.
He also said that the collection of the Cards would continue in INEC offices in the 18 Local Government areas across the State.
Professor Yakubu announced that the Commission had developed a register containing, the names and photographs of the 184,438 voters to ease the collection of their PVCs and that the register had also been uploaded to facilitate easy identification and collection of the cards.
He maintained that the PVCs must not be collected by proxy but by the registered voters so that they would not end up in the wrong hands.
He urged voters who took their time to register during the Continuous Voter Registration,CVR, to also take time to collect their PVCs in person and, most importantly, to come out on Election Day and vote for the party of their choice.
He said that the softcopy of the final and comprehensive register of voters would be presented to each political party fielding candidates in the governorship election in Edo State today.
For the collection of PVC for the electorate in Ondo State, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu gave the assurance that action was being taken to ensure the availability of their PVCs for the governorship election holding in November this year.
He also reminded media organisations that want to cover the Edo State Governorship election to do so as the accreditation portal would close by the first week of next month.
