GOVERNOR LAWAL APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN FOR ZAMFARA STATE INDEPENDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSION 05-10-24
By Sadiq Aminu Governor Lawal has approved the appointment of Bala Aliyu Gusau as the new Chairman for the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC).
In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada and issued to newsmen by his Senior Special Assistant on Media Sulaiman Ahmad Tudu says the appointment followed the demise of the former Chairman of the Commission.
According to the statement, the appointment is subject to the confirmation by the State House of Assembly.
“Mr Aliyu obtained two postgraduate certificates in leadership and development from Galliee College Israel and Kansas State University, USA. He holds B.Sc Ed (Economics) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto after his NCE”
It says the appointee has an illustrious career in public service spanning across 3 decades, rising through the ranks to the Director in the Zamfara State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning before his transfer to the federal civil service where he served in different capacities in the National Television Authority including Zonal Director Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Director Special Duties, NTA Headquarters, Abuja.
He also served as the Permanent Member, Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board before this appointment.
Governor Dauda Lawal urges the appointee to bring his wealth of experience in driving the ZASIEC’s vision for conducting free, fair and credible local government elections in the state.
