BAUCHI STATE GOVERNOR RELEASES 800 MILLION NAIRA FOR PAYMENT OF SS3 EXTERNAL EXAMINATION FEES 05-02-25
By Sadiq Aminu Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has released about eight hundred million naira for the payment of External Examinations fees of over twenty five thousand Senior Secondary School students with index number across the state.
The State Commissioner of Education Dr Lawal Mohammed who stated this during a Maiden Media briefing at his Office, said the gesture demonstrates the administration’s commitment to uplifting the standard of education in the state.
Dr Lawal Mohammed said the amount which stood at seven hundred and ninety three million six hundred and twenty six thousand is for the payment of NECO fees for 23294 candidates, 1834 NABTEB candidates, 282 NBAIS and 5000 JAMB across all public secondary schools including Special Schools.
He said only students captured in the index number system used by government would benefit from the gesture and any one without the number will foot the bill by themselves.
“There are principles we have adopted by the directive of His Excellency. It’s only students that are indexed that will be enjoying this benefit. Any student without index, certainly his parents or guardians will take care of his charges for the examination.”
“So we are mindful of those students that are already indexed by the ministry or by their respective schools and those are the people that will be enjoying this benefit”, Dr Lawal explains.
The Commissioner warned Principals against registering or enrolling fresh students with the intention of adding them to the number of students captured under the index system to benefit from the package.
Dr Lawal Mohammed stated further that the State Executive Council has approved the recruitment of teachers and the ministry will soon begin engagement meeting with various agencies under education on modalities to adopt towards the recruitment exercise.
He used the medium to call on parents and guardians to reciprocate such gesture by enrolling their children and wards into schools to guarantee their future and justify the huge government spending.
