NIGERIA’S OIL OUTPUT JUMPS NEARLY 10% IN JULY 2025

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Nigeria’s oil production is on the rise again, hitting an average of 1.71 million barrels per day (bpd) in July 2025, according to fresh data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). This marks a 9.9% increase compared to July 2024, when the country produced 1.56 million bpd.

Breaking down the figures, 1.507 million bpd came from crude oil, while 204,864 bpd came from condensates. The month also showed slight progress over June 2025, which stood at 1.69 million bpd.

Nigeria’s major crude oil terminals contributed strongly to the boost. Forcados and Bonny led the way, with Bonny recording a sharp 12.7% rise, while Brass stood out with a 27% surge in production. Escravos, Bonga, and Odudu terminals also saw steady growth, though Qua Iboe slipped slightly from the previous month.

The growth reflects Nigeria’s efforts to stabilize production and boost revenue in a market still sensitive to global oil price shifts.
