PRESIDENCY, NiDCOM PUSH FOR DIASPORA TRUST FUND AND DNA HERITAGE PROJECTS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Presidency says it is committed to tapping into the strength of Nigerians in the Diaspora to drive national development.

Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, met with NiDCOM Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa in Abuja, stressing the Tinubu administration’s focus on measurable results in diaspora engagement across health, remittances, climate change, and trade.

Dabiri-Erewa highlighted two key priorities: establishing a Diaspora Trust Fund to build confidence and boost remittances, and promoting DNA ancestry projects to connect people of Nigerian descent with their roots. She said both efforts would strengthen cultural pride, attract investment, and promote tourism.

The officials also called for better structures to support Diaspora returnees and urged skilled Nigerians abroad to invest and create businesses at home. They praised the resilience of Nigerians worldwide and pledged stronger partnerships to maximize their impact on national growth.
