The Edo State House of Assembly has amended the Secret Cult and Similar Activities Law, imposing a 10-year jail term on anyone who permits cult meetings or related activities on their property. Such property will also be seized and demolished upon conviction.
The amendment followed the adoption of a security committee report aimed at curbing rising criminality in the state. The Speaker has directed that the bill be sent to Governor Monday Okpebholo for assent.
