NDLEA KANO RECORDS MAJOR DRUG WAR GAINS IN 2025

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The NDLEA Kano Strategic Command says it made strong progress in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in 2025, arresting 1,389 suspects and seizing about 7.7 tonnes of illicit drugs across the state. The agency described the outcome as a major boost to efforts to curb drug-related crimes and protect public health.

According to the Command, several convictions were secured during the year, including long prison sentences for key drug traffickers, while assets linked to drug proceeds were also recovered. Beyond enforcement, NDLEA Kano said it expanded rehabilitation and awareness programmes, reaching thousands of residents through treatment, testing, and community campaigns on the dangers of drug abuse.

The Command added that close collaboration with other security agencies helped disrupt wider criminal networks, reaffirming its commitment to a drug-free Kano State.
