NSCDC PARADES CHILD TRAFFICKING, FUEL DEALING SUSPECTS IN ZAMFARA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Zamfara State has paraded a child trafficking suspect alongside others arrested for fuel-related offences and other crimes in Gusau. The command described child trafficking as a serious threat to human rights and national security.

NSCDC said the trafficking suspect was arrested with five children whose identities could not be clearly explained, with preliminary findings suggesting they were being moved across states for illegal purposes. The suspect and the rescued children have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further investigation.

The command also paraded suspects arrested for illegal fuel dealing, with large quantities of petroleum products seized during operations across the state. Other suspects were arrested for public disturbance and motorcycle theft, as investigations continue.

NSCDC warned residents against engaging in criminal activities and urged the public to support security agencies with credible information to help maintain peace and order in Zamfara State.
