APPEAL COURT UPHOLDS RULING AGAINST PDP 2025 NATIONAL CONVENTION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the Federal High Court judgment restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The appellate court ruled that the convention held in Ibadan violated constitutional and electoral provisions, including failure to properly notify INEC and conduct valid congresses in the required number of states.

The court maintained that compliance with the Constitution, Electoral Act and party guidelines is essential to protect democratic processes.
