CLASHES KILL 11, DESTROY HOMES IN NASARAWA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Violence has erupted in Nasarawa as clashes between Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities left 11 people dead and dozens of homes destroyed. The attack, which happened early Friday, reportedly involved suspected reprisals, with about 50 houses burnt in Akyawa and others affected in Udege Kasa.

Police say security forces have been deployed, and a manhunt is ongoing to arrest those responsible. Authorities also held talks with community leaders to restore calm and prevent further violence.

Residents, however, remain fearful, citing repeated attacks in nearby areas and rising insecurity threatening lives and livelihoods.
