ABUJA HIGH COURT GIVES AN ORDER SETTING ASIDE ANY ALLEGATION OF GROSS MISCONDUCT AGAINST THE EDO STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR
19-03-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        A Federal High Court in Abuja has given an order setting aside any purported process or notice of any allegation of gross misconduct against the Edo state Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu on the ground that such process or notice is a violation of Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The injunction restrains the Edo state house of Assembly, the judiciary and other parties to the matter from interfering with, or restricting, or preventing the Comrade Shaibu from discharging his constitutional duties and functions as the duly elected Deputy Governor of Edo State in a joint and equal ticket with Governor Obaseki.

The order obtained by Comrade Shaibu’s counsel,Professor Oladoyin Awoyale,a senior advocate of Nigeria also restored the full rights and privileges attached to the office of the deputy governor including the restoration of all his media team and relocating him back to his Office within the Edo state Government House.
