NDA MATRICULATES FRESH CADETS INTO VARIOUS ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES                                                                                                29-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                    The Executive Secretary of the  Technology Development Fund-PTDF Mr Ahmed Galadima Aminu says the dynamics and nature of 21st century warfare demand an elevated level of intellectual capability and creative critical thinking by military leaders.

He stated this at the 12th matriculation ceremony of cadets of 75 regular course of the Nigerian Defence Academy-NDA, Kaduna State.

Mr Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who was the special guest of honour at the event noted that in view of security threats bedeviling Nigeria and the world at large by non-state actors, there was the need for sustained recruitment and systematic training of minds to confront emerging and highly sophisticated security threats.

Represented by Dr Munir Surajo, the Executive Secretary expressed optimism that the NDA was poised to improve on the military training and academic education of the cadets to mitigate future warfare challenges, regardless of the diversity of security challenges being faced in Nigeria.

He urged the cadets to view their assignments in the NDA as a call to active duty to cultivate and nurture future gallant military heroes, highly patriotic to protect and defend Nigeria.

Earlier in his welcome address, Commandant of the NDA, Major General John Ochai said matriculation in the NDA usually takes place at the end of a successful 7 weeks of intensive military orientation programme, which the cadets are subjected to, as soon as they report to the institution.

He explained that the entire training in the Academy was aimed at equipping the cadets with the capacity for national defence and professional discharge of constitutional responsibility, hence, they must live up to expectations and adhere strictly to basic rules and regulations guiding their training.

Major General Ochai congratulated the cadets and charged them to have the courage and zeal to surmount all difficulties, and brace up to the demands and exigencies of the trainings ahead of them.

A total of 439 cadets were matriculated into various courses spread within 23 departments in the 5 faculties of the institution for a 5 year academic and military training programmes.
