NNPCL TO ESTABLISH 50 MICRO LPG FILLING PLANTS IN NIGER STATE AS STATE GOVERNMENT PROVIDES LAND FOR TAKEOFF 25-05-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC Retail limited is to establish Fifty Micro filling Plants of Liquified Petroleum Gas and Truck Parks in Niger State as a pilot scheme.
To facilitate the process, the State Government has presented Certificate of Occupancy to the Corporation for the take off of the LPG plants in Bida, Suleja and Minna.
Presenting the document to NNPC Retail Limited executives in Minna, the State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago said the gesture was the State’s commitment towards achieving clean and renewable energy through green economy.
While stressing that the proposed establishment of Truck Parks in the State by the NNPCL would address illegal parking of trucks, Governor Bago advocated synergy between the Corporation and the State to streamlined their activities due to ongoing plans by the State to invest in trailer parks.
Earlier, the Senior Officer, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG Micro distribution, NNPCL Alhaji Muhammad Baba, said the proposed LPG plants which are the first of its kind in the country, are part of the Federal Government’s agenda for Nigerians to access affordable gas especially in remote areas.
He disclosed that Niger State, is among the States to benefit in the pilot scheme, with 50 units of the filling plants out of the 3000 slated to be established nationwide to ensure that liquified petroleum gas remains a clean cooking alternative.
He hinted that each of the units would have a storage capacity of about one metric ton of gas to be powered by solar light for uninterrupted access.
Alhaji Baba who said when completed, State Governments are expected to provide dealers for gas supply for the project appreciated Niger State Government for providing land for the construction of 3 out of the fifty of LPG filling plants.
