FIRE DISASTER: KWARA FIRE SERVICE SAVES N17B PROPERTY IN THREE MONTHS 09-10-24
By Sadiq Aminu Kwara state government says it has saved property worth over N17 billion naira from inferno through the state fire service between June and September 2024.
The state commissioner for Works, Abdulqowiyy Olododo, made the disclosure while briefing Newsmen in Ilorin.
He said that property worth N817million naira was lost to fire incidents within the period in some parts of the state.
Represented by the director, Civil Engineering, Engineer Moshood Akanbi, the Commisssioner said that many lives were saved by the personnel of the Fire Service during the period, adding that only one live was lost to fire.
In her remarks at the inter-ministerial press briefing, the state Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, declared that her ministry through the interface with the media intended to keep the citizens informed about activities of government on regular basis.
She said that the state government would continue to entrench a culture of transparency and accountability in governance, adding that debt profile of the state is going down.
In her address the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, said that about 100 persons have been arraigned before designated courts for violating environmental laws.
The commissioner, advised the people residing near river banks to relocate upland to avoid harsh effects of climatic change.
