FCT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE EXTENDS THE GRACE PERIOD TO ALLOTTEES OF MAITAMA CADASTRAL ZONE A10 DISTRICT TO PAY FOR THEIR C OF O BILL BY TWO WEEKS                                                                                      24-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                    The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Executive Committee has extended the grace period to allottees of Maitama Cadastral Zone A10 District to pay for their C of O bill by two weeks.

The Director of Land Administration in FCT, Mr Chijioke Nwankwoeze, stated this while briefing the Journalists in Abuja after the Executive Committee meeting.

Mr Nwankwoeze said the period was extended in consideration of appeals by the affected allottees for time to enable them pay the C of O bills.

The FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike upon expiration of an earlier two-weeks ultimatum, recently announced the withdrawal of the Right of Occupancy to the allottees.

Also briefing journalists, the Mandate Secretary, FCT Transportation Secretariat, Dr. chinedum Elechi announced the approval of contract renewal for two firms to secure the Abuja rail tracks and stations for another two years.

The FCT Administration awarded contracts to two firms in March 2022 to provide security to the entire rail mass transit scheme’s tracks, including 12 stations.

The move followed the vandalisation of the Abuja metro line during the COVID-19 lockdown, which led to the suspension of operations.

Also addressing journalists after the Meeting, the Acting Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, Mr. Richard Dauda said the FCT EXCO considered and approved the award of contracts for the development of two multi-event sports centres at strategic locations in the city.

He said the two sports centres, when completed will have several sports facilities, including football pitches, lawn tennis, table tennis, and indoor sports facilities.

Mr. Dauda added that the sporting centres would be available to all residents and cater to the people’s physical and mental well-being in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
