GOMBE GOVT PAYS ₦5BN TO SECURE 2026 HAJJ SEATS BEFORE DEADLINE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Gombe State Government has released ₦5 billion to secure over 950 Hajj seats for the 2026 pilgrimage ahead of the December 5, 2025 deadline set by NAHCON.

The Executive Secretary of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan, said the money was provided as a loan to prevent the state from losing its allocation. He urged intending pilgrims to pay their Hajj fares before the end of December so the government can be refunded.

He thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the timely support and advised pilgrims to make early payments, noting that the 2026 allocation will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
