NIGERIA SEEKS STRONGER MINING PARTNERSHIP WITH CANADA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Nigeria is looking to deepen cooperation with Canada to strengthen reforms in the mining sector and attract more investment.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, said this during a meeting in Abuja with Canada’s High Commissioner, Pasquale Salvaggio. He noted that Nigeria plans to tap into Canada’s mining expertise and technology to modernize the industry, create jobs, and boost economic growth.

Alake also reaffirmed the commitment of Bola Tinubu to attracting foreign investment as part of efforts to grow the economy.

In response, Salvaggio expressed confidence in Nigeria’s potential and pledged Canada’s support in expanding trade, investment, and training opportunities in the mining sector. Both countries agreed to work closely to achieve practical results.
