NORWAY OIL EXPORTS HIT RECORD HIGH AS IRAN WAR SHAKES GLOBAL SUPPLY
By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban
Norway’s oil export earnings surged to a record level as the Iran war and disruption of the Strait of Hormuz triggered a sharp rise in global energy prices.
The closure of the key shipping route, which handles a significant share of the world’s oil and gas flows, created a supply shock that drove crude prices to their highest levels in months. This allowed Norway, Europe’s top oil and gas producer outside Russia, to benefit from stronger demand and higher prices.
Data showed export values jumped significantly year-on-year, reflecting both increased prices and steady output. The spike underscores how geopolitical tensions can quickly reshape global energy markets, handing windfalls to major exporters.
Norway continues to channel its oil and gas revenues into its massive sovereign wealth fund, reinforcing its long-term economic stability even as global energy dynamics remain uncertain.
