UNICEF ORGANIZES 2 DAYS MEDIA PARLEY ON ROUTINE IMMUNIZATION FOR JOURNALISTS COVERING SOKOTO,KEBBI AND ZAMFARA 11-11-23
By Sadiq Aminu UNICEF Sokoto field office in collaboration with the Primary Health Care Development Agencies (NPHCDA) of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara Stats commence a two days media dialogue on routine immunization and Zero Dose reduction Campaign Training organised for journalists covering the states.
The Chief UNICEF Field Officer Sokoto State office Dr Maryam Sa’id announced this while declaring the training open in Sokoto.
The two days media dialogue on routine immunization and Zero reduction organised for journalists covering sokoto,kebbi and Zamfara Stats will educate the public about the importance attached to immunization exercises.
Represented by the Health Manager, UNICEF Field office Sokoto Dr Shamina Sharmin highlight potential to generate evidence-based strategies for reaching zero-dose children and underserved communities across the country.
She said that, Zero-dose children are those who have not received their first dose of Penta 1, and are at a higher risk of vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs).
In a keynote address, the sokoto state director of public health, Dr Abdulrahman Ahmad solicit the support of working journalists in the three states to create windows to allow people to accept immunizations .
Dr Ahmad further explain that, positive change within the country’s borders and serve as a model for other nations to replicate, positioning itself as a cornerstone for progress in the fight against vaccine-preventable diseases.
