ARMED FORCES TO RETURN TO TRUE PROFESSIONALISM IN THE DISCHARGE OF IT’S DUTIES- GOVERNOR CALEB 14-01-24
By Sadiq Aminu The need for the Armed Forces to return to true professionalism in the discharge of its duties has been advocated.
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang made this known at the Inter-denominational Church service in Commemoration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, held at the ECWA Unity Church, Rayfield, Jos.
The Armed Forces Remembrance day is an annual event aimed at honouring the sacrifices of our past heroes who fought and laid down their lives for the unity of the country.
Speaking during the Service, Governor Caleb Mutfwang noted that in view of the critical role of the Armed Forces, it had become necessary for them to always employ topmost level of professionalism in order to address the insecurity bedeviling the country.
The Governor who lauded the sacrifices of the fallen heroes however regretted that as a nation, not much has been done to honour them.
On his part, the General officer Commanding, 3 Armoured Division Jos, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, represented by Brigadier General M.O Ageh stated that the Armed Forces has employed the usage of non kinetic approach in tackling the security challenges in their nation, and charged the congregation to honour them by remaining peaceful.
Earlier, State Chairman of the Legion of Ex-servicemen Retired Colonel Sati Yilwat, represented by the deputy, Laplit Livinus called on the people to have compassion on members of the Legion.
In a sermon, Guest Speaker, lamented that evil has taken over the land going by the heinous crimes been witnessed on daily basis and called on the congregation to not only remain prayerful, but imbibe the attitude of love, peace and harmonious coexistence with one another.
Highpoint of the service was special prayers offered for the country, legionnaires, the Armed Forces and the State in general.
