PRESIDENT TINUBU SAYS THE NON-PARTISAN ATTENDANCE OF JUNE 12 DINNER CONFIRMS THAT NIGERIA’S UNITY CANNOT BE TRADED                                                                         12-06-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  President tinubu says the non-partisan attendance of the June 12 dinner confirms that the unity of Nigeria cannot be traded.

Excited by the large number of State Governors from opposition parties at the dinner, the President said Nigeria’s diversity should instead be used to enhance efforts at making her greater.

“Is it not true that the unity of this country cannot be traded? I’ve seen many Governors, they belong to other parties, and many of them are here tonight. Everybody has embraced that Green-White-Green, that depicts Nigeria, that is the value that we hold there, that we say we will hand over a banner without stain to our children and grandchildren”.

He voiced out his frustration regarding his inability to redeem his pledge to bring down the prices of food items, which he attributed to the heinous activities of bandits.

“The promises I made struggling to bring the food prices down, those bandits, leave the farmers alone, and bring Nigeria to her glory. We can make Nigeria a tremendously successful country if we gather as we gather here tonight, encourage our children about the charter of our value system”.

President Tinubu commended the Customs officers in Kebbi and Ondo States, who rejected millions of Naira given to them as bribe to allow vandals of rail tracks go free.

He called for a change of attitude towards patriotism, cautioning that the negative psyche in some Nigerians will frustrate every efforts done to make life better for her citizens.

President Tinubu used the occasion to jovially say that his misstep and eventual falling down while boarding the rostrum to inspect the parade mounted by the armed forces yesterday was a bow he took to celebrate the day.

“I had a swagger, and it’s on the social media. They were confused, whether I was doing ‘buga’ or doing ‘babban-riga, but it is a day to celebrate democracy. While doing ‘dobale’. I’m a traditionally Yoruba boy. I did my ‘dobale’.

Earlier, Vice President Kashim Shettima referenced the struggle they made to frustrate efforts at fielding a northern candidate to succeed former President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that the unbiased credentials of Asiwaju Tinubu made them produce him for the Presidency.

He called on Nigerians to have confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to make the country better.

A cake was cut to commemorate the day, while some selected members of the erstwhile National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, presented goodwill messages.

They looked back at the sacrifices they made to enthrone democracy in the country, and thanked God for making them witness one of them becoming the President of the country.

Among them was Senator Shehu Sani, who also advised the President to try harder to get Nigerians out of the hardship his economic policies had brought about.

All the speakers prayed for the President to succeed in making the country better.
