NAFDAC CONDUCTS A MAJOR CLEANUP OPERATION IN KEY MARKETS ACROSS MAIDUGURI, BORNO STATE                                                                                                         24-09-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has conducted a major cleanup operation in key markets across Maiduguri, Borno State, to remove food and drugs contaminated by recent floods.

In a post on X, NAFDAC says this effort aims to protect public health by preventing the sale of unsafe products that could cause disease outbreaks.

It says its officials from Borno, Yobe, Gombe, and the NAFDAC Area Laboratory led the operation in markets like Gamboru, Monday Market, and Gwange Drug Market, seizing and destroying contaminated items worth over N5 billion.

The Agency also provided guidance to vendors and the public on identifying unsafe products and temporarily closed manufacturing facilities in flood-affected areas for safety reassessments.

NAFDAC urges the public to report suspicious products to their nearest office.
