HOUSE OF REPS URGES FG TO ESTABLISH MORE CNG CONVERSION CENTRES AND STATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY                                                                                                                      08-05-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to establish more Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, Conversion centres across the Federation to help ease cost of transportation and to enhance economic activities in Nigeria.
The Federal Government has came up with Presidential Compressed Natural Gas, Initiative, following the removal of fuel subsidy as part of measures to ease hardships that associated with subsidy removal.
The implementation of this initiative has been a source of concerns for Nigerians
While some argued that some regions of the country have been sidelined in the implementation of the project others believed that the initiative has not yielded much result.

Concern by this, the green Chamber in a motion by the Deputy Minority leader, Aliyu Madaki, urged the Federal Government to equitably establish CNG conversation centres across the country to give more Nigerians a sense of belonging.

A member representing Jibia Kaita Federal Constituency of Katsina State Sada Soli, pointed out that consideration was not giving to some sections of the country in the implementation of the program.

Kafilat Ogbara, a member representing Kosafe Federal Constituency of Lagos State, suggested for the inclusion of members from all regions in the Gas Resources Committee to ensure all regions benefited from the initiative
According to Ahmadu Jaha, a member representing Damboa, Gwoza and Chibok Federal Constituency of Borno State, explains that no CNG Conversation centre in the Northeast despite the strategic location of the region
The House mandated its Committee on Gas Resources to ensure compliance and report within four weeks for further legislative action.
