KANO APPROVES ₦69 BILLION FOR MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND D SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS………..

The Kano State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved over ₦69 billion for a broad range of development projects aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, energy, and social services across the state.
The approvals were made during the Council’s 29th meeting held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the funds will be directed toward critical interventions that align with the administration’s commitment to enhancing public welfare and boosting economic growth.
A significant portion of the funding will go into the expansion of Katsina Road, from Baban Gwari Roundabout to Mil Tara, along with the construction of multiple reinforced concrete pedestrian bridges to ensure road safety and ease traffic flow. The state also plans to rehabilitate key roads and flyovers, including RMK Flyover, IBB Road, and Kofar Mazugal Junction, in addition to constructing more pedestrian bridges at major junctions.
In education, the government has approved the renovation of 13 boarding schools that had been shut down by the previous administration. Further investments will address the dilapidated infrastructure in several secondary and technical schools across the state. The Council also gave the green light for the construction of a new primary school in Warawa Local Government Area, the refurbishment of French and Chinese bilingual colleges in Kwankwaso, and funding for the 2025 internal examinations. Outstanding feeding costs for boarding schools will also be settled.
The health sector will benefit from counterpart funding for maternal and child health programs, new vehicles for health institutions, support for specialist hospitals, and immunization activities for the second quarter of the year.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that these initiatives reflect his administration’s resolve to transform Kano into a hub of modern infrastructure, inclusive education, and quality healthcare services.
