GOVERNOR DIKKO UMAR RADDA SIGNS KATSINA STATE 2024 BUDGET INTO LAW                                                                                                                        21-12-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has signed the state’s 2024 budget of N454 billion into law following its passage by the State House of Assembly.

The governor had presented the proposed budget before the State House of Assembly in November, as the lawmakers vetter the document and passed it with few amendments.

The budget appropriates the sum of N330 billion which represents 72 percent for capital expenditure and N124 billion which represents 28 percent for recurrent expenditure.

Radda, who thanked the lawmakers for the speedy passage of the appropriation bill, appealed for continued cooperation from the legislature, emphasizing the importance of synergy between the two arms.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya noted that the budget was scrutinized and passed within 33 days.

He said the lawmakers will step up their oversight responsibility to ensure that Ministries, Departments and Agencies implement the budget to the letter.

Our correspondent reports that the Katsina State 2024 budget allocates the highest budgetary provisions to the Water Resources, Education and Works sectors and will be funded with a projected FAAC allocation of N63 billion, an IGR of N40 billion, capital receipts of N185 billion and an opening balance of N15 billion.
