BAUCHI STATE TARGETS 11,000 CHILDREN FOR AFRICAN VACCINATION WEEK CAMPAIGN                                                                                                                                  10-05-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                About 11,000 children in thirteen out of twenty local government areas of Bauchi State are being targeted for this year’s African Vaccination Week.

The thirteen targeted local government areas were tagged Zero Dose LGAs because a significant number of children have missed one immunization circle or the other.

The Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said the African Vaccination Week exercise is scheduled to run for six days and would make sure that the targeting 11,000 children in the thirteen Zero Dose LGAs were reached and vaccinated.

He said the Zero Dose LGAs include Bauchi, Katagum, Toro, Alkaleri, Ningi, Ganjuwa, Giade, Misau, Gamawa among others.

Dr Mohammed urged parents and guardians to make their children and wards available for vaccination exercise to prevent them against diphtheria, Meningitis, poliomyelitis among other life-threatening diseases.

The African Vaccination Week was organized and sponsored by World Health Organization (WHO) with support from other Implementing Partners.
