By Sadiq Aminu                                                               President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to work harmoniously with the National Assembly to ensure good governance at local government level.
The President made the Pledge in Abuja at the National Discourse on Nigeria’s Challenges and good governance at Local Government Level
The National Discourse with the theme. Nigeria’s Security Challenges and good governance at the Local Government Level” was to delibrate on how to achieve local government autonomy where the 774 local government across the nation could perform optimally in accordance with the Constitution.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who pointed out that his administration is committed to enhancing good governance at the grassroot level said good local government administration was key improving the welfare of the citizens.
The President represented by the Minister of Defense Muhammadu Badaru said the this administration would continue to adhere to the nation’s constitution in promoting good governance
The Speaker House of Representatives Dr Tajudeen Abbas represented by the Deputy Speaker Mr Benjamin Kalu emphasized that the essence of government at local level is to solve problems with local resources.

In his presentation, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Prince Lateef Fagbemi, stressed that the 1999 Constitution made the Local Government more dependent on State government.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congressives APC Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje suggested for total overhaul of institutions at the Local Government level to enhance good governance at the grassroot.
